How to identify a turbocharger?
Each turbocharger must have an identification label or nameplate attached to the outer casing of the turbocharger. It is advantageous if you can provide us with the make and part number of the actual turbo.
Generally, the turbocharger can be identified by the model name, part number and OEM number.
1)Model name:
This usually indicates the general size and type of turbocharger.
2)Part Number:
The specific part number of the turbocharger is assigned by the turbocharger manufacturer within a turbocharger. This specific part number can be used for immediate identification of the turbocharger and is therefore generally recognised as the best form of turbocharger identification.
3)Customer or OEM number:
The OEM number is assigned by the manufacturer to a specific turbocharger. Please note that general purpose performance turbochargers do not have an OEM number.
